Bienvenue!

Bienvenue from the City of Light!

In 2015 my wife and I moved to Paris so we could both follow our career callings -- she as a go-get-'em communicator extraordinaire for a giant multinational operation that does a lot of great humanitarian work all over the world -- and me (much more selfishly) getting to live out my favorite Parisian cliché: the American Expat Writer Living on the Left Bank.

This newfound reality didn't last long. We hadn't been in Paris living our respective dream jobs for more than a couple of months when we got the word: We were PREGNANT!!!

Needless to say, our first year in Paris has been a rollercoaster of emotions -- mostly good, though a few of them were of the more frustrating variety. We've had all our prenatal classes, delivered our little boy at St. Joseph's Hospital in the 14th arrondissement and, now that we've found a good pediatrician and my wife is about to go back to work from her maternity leave, it's time for me to step up to the plate and do this full-time-stay-at-home-writer-dad thing for real.

What follows are some stories of our time navigating the urban wilderness of one of the greatest cities in the world with (hopefully) some tips and tricks for parents as well as some thoughts on some visiting some of the restaurants, museums, monuments and events that make this city so legendary with a baby in tow.

Feel free to write me and let me know if there is something particularly parisien or français that you would like me cover and stayed tuned for upcoming posts from Papa Parisien!
